Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Sidney City Schools - Board of Education, 750 South Fourth Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365
Course Faculty: Kathleen Hofmann & Anne Cushing-Reid

Overview: The Ohio Arts Assessment Collaborative (OAAC), a consortium of arts educators led by the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, has created an innovative suite of authentic assessments to measure student growth for K-12 dance, drama/theatre, music, and visual arts. Don't miss this dynamic PD opportunity to learn more about the OAAC's tools and practical strategies for implementing them in your classroom.

High-quality assessments are an integral part of measuring and monitoring student growth and informing classroom instruction. Arts educators are often left to their own devices to identify and measure student growth, often without adequate background in assessment design and implementation.

This workshop has been customized, guiding you toward authentic, performance-based arts assessments in dance, drama/theater, music and visual arts.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

Ohio's Learning Standards:

  • How to Prioritize & Deconstruct
  • Principles of Webb's Depth of Knowledge (DOK)
  • Applying Blooms Taxonomy & DOK to arts standards
  • How DOK can be applied to improve alignment & rigor of instruction and assessment

Types of Assessments:

  • Selected, Written, & Verbal Response
  • Performance based
  • Rubrics-types and development
  • Blueprinting-your plan of action for creating your own assessments
  • Assessment Resources on the OAAC website
