Fourth Avenue

Artist's Narrative

 Fourth Avenue Since 1993, this professional a cappella quartet has been entertaining audiences with a diverse repertoire including pop, soul, R&B, gospel, and doo-wop. You will hear drums, bass guitar, and other amazing sounds that make you think you are hearing a band or tracks, but all the sounds are coming only from their versatile voices. Incredible harmony, audience participation, outrageous humor and a fully choreographed stage show are all part of the musical extravaganza. They have shared the stage with such national acts as The Beach Boys, The Temptations, Styx and Three Dog Night.

Our students and teachers loved Fourth Avenue's performance! They provided a look at pop music through the decades, which was an excellent connection to some of the music curriculum, and did it with such talent. A nice group of artists!

Availability

IMPORTANT: Fourth Avenue can do residencies and school shows at the rate below, when booked with the Evening Concert: Fourth Avenue Live! Please schedule at least two months in advance. Fridays preferred. Unavailable on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Fees listed are for Columbus-area schools. This group is based in Dayton.

Programs Available

Evening Concert: Fourth Avenue Live! (All Ages)

Fourth Avenue will perform an hour and a half concert featuring their contemporary a cappella sound, which has gained them the moniker, "band without instruments."  Their diverse repertoire and incredible harmony is accompanied with a high-energy, fully choreographed stage show, audience participation and outrageous humor.

Activity Options:
Evening Concert: Fourth Avenue Live! (All Ages)
  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Fees: Fee Range: $1,500 to $3,000 (depending on distance from Dayton)
  • Requirements: Auditorium or gym, bottled water (4), 2 electrical outlets, assistants to load and unload equipment.

A Cappella Pop! (Grade levels K-12)

This concert is purely entertainment based and features a variety of familiar favorites from different eras, as well as catchy original music. The perfect addition to a reward program, awards assembly, or other in-school function, this concert is high-energy and guaranteed to please! Incredible harmony, audience participation, and outrageous humor are all part of this must-hear musical extravaganza!

Special Presentation Concert: The History of Vocal Music (Grades K-12)

This special presentation concert by Fourth Avenue gives a history of the vocal ensemble. Fourth Avenue's history presentation shows through discussion and live listening examples how a cappella music developed in the high church of early Western Civilization. The history covers the advent of secular vocal music starting with the Madrigal, continuing on to the barbershop tradition of the early twentieth century and ending with the pop sounds of the 1990's.

Fourth Avenue's residency activities for music students include a workshop with students on vocal technique, a lecture on the principles of voice care, and a masterclass on ensemble singing.
