Math-MAGICs Classroom Workshops (Grade levels 3-12)
Many students struggle with studies in mathematics. Sometimes they struggle with understanding the concepts, other times they lose interest with repetitive homework assignments or lack of application. Math-Magics is a classroom workshop in which students will learn to use principles of mathematics in a unique and fun way. Through the use of playing cards, dice, and other ordinary objects, students will soon be performing magic tricks that will amaze their families and friends. At the same time, math skills being taught in the classroom will be reinforced and give students a special incentive to perform mathematical calculations quickly and efficiently without the use of paper, pencil, or calculator. This hands-on workshop can be used as part of a residency program in which David Hennig can make classroom visits and give personal instruction to your students.

They'll learn about sign language, Braille, and what it might be like to have different abilities and disabilities. The color of our skin, eyes, hair, and clothes make each of us unique. Our religions, beliefs, customs, and diets may be different. We may celebrate different holidays and even speak different languages, but through understanding and tolerance, we can all live together even if we don't always agree. The Magic Is In You (Grade levels K-12)
This self-esteem program is designed to help students learn the key to building a healthy self-image. A mirror is displayed as something people use every day to check out their "image." But what kind of "mirror" do you use to check out your "self-image?" Many "mirrors" people use reflect distorted images just like the strange mirrors at the amusement park. These distorted images can prevent us from understanding who we really are and can keep us from achieving our potential. One of these "mirrors," however, reveals that the key to building a healthy self-image is by developing strong character. This presentation focuses on building self-image by developing strong character through making choices to do what is right and by treating others will respect. There is no secret to developing a healthy self-image - the "magic" really is in you!!!

Prevention Magic (Grade levels K-12)
This substance abuse prevention program is designed to help students to celebrate the drug-free and alcohol-free life. Through the use of magic, comedy, and group participation, students will be able to state a definition of substance abuse and identify three reasons why many people are lured into drug and alcohol use. We discuss specific consequences that are often associated with people who use and abuse drugs and alcohol. More importantly, yoru students will leave with a memorable outline of specific things they can do to make sure that they stay off the path of use and abuse. This program is effective as a daytime assembly, an after-school program, or PTA sponsored evening event for the entire family. This presentation can be used successfully with D.A.R.E. programs, Youth Power clubs, and Red Ribbon weeks.
